  5S Rules!
We do 5S, and we follow all rules related to this way of life. In my workplace, we emphasized the rules just to make sure these are being followed religiously. How to do it? Put signages.

Examples:

"Keep right"
(while walking along hallways)

"No food and drinks allowed inside"
(we cannot munch on anything in the workplace. We're only allowed to drink water, coffee (from the vendo)- NO FOOD. The only eating place is at the canteen. Of course we have our 10 am and 3 pm short break, so short that going to the canteen for a snack is impossible (the distance is a constraint also).

"Please keep this area clear"

"Always keep the door closed"
(this one was criticized - why the need for this sign. It's no longer needed to indicate such instruction, Not to mention that they're referring to CR doors.

"No wearing of make-up"
(Yes, its true..our products will be contaminated if people directly involve in its production are accessorized by a mere splash of hues. Even baby powder is not allowed..wawa naman ang mga bata he he)

"Walk fast and briskly"
(people walking to slow is annoying. If you cannot walk fast stay at the farthest right to give consideration to others so that they may pass without having to cross dividing line - a dividing line is marked on the floor area to designate the 2-way flow)

"Exchange greetings"
(Konnichiwa, Ohayou-Gozaimasu, etc, just to recognize and maintain a healthy communication among employees).

It's good that this way of life is being inculcated on us. You see, it does not only help promote our company's global standard of quality. It also allows us to work in a safe and healthy environment.

Name: Jingks
Location: Philippines

Born on the date when people wouldn't miss sharing a gift, raised in a cool place where we give prominence to the letter "R" (in our town's spoken language, most of the Tagalog words with letter "D" are replaced with letter "R"), and now living and working south of somewhere, with a very colorful life soundtrack. My videoke national anthem is "Goodtimes" by Edie Brickell I am shallow - a decent mug of tea with milk pleases me ; and I am deep - I usually trail socio-political news and issues especially when there is probe in aid of legislation (sabi sa inyo, malalim e ha ha). My personality is very much defined by my iPod music collection. I have a passion for singing and usually takes extra efforts to be discreet and resist the overwhelming urge to sing for hours. Don't worry, the mic still has a chance to leave my hand, when too-mainstream tunes come in.
